First aid essentials

When you holiday at Club MAC Alcudia, you might want to get out into the town and explore Alcudia’s charming streets. But what should you do if one of your kids has a little accident while you’re all out having a good time in Alcudia? We’d suggest you bring a first aid kit. Here are a few essentials you might want to include:

  • Medications: If your child regularly takes medication, make sure you have it with at all times.
  • Antiseptic spray: If your child gets a minor cut or graze, having antiseptic spray on hand can be very helpful for quick treatment. Containing a fast acting local anaesthetic, this relieves the pain of minor burns, bites, stings and grazes.
  • Plasters: Kids have a nasty habit of falling and grazing their knees from time and time. Pack a few plasters so you can patch them up right away if they stumble!
  • Dressings: For deeper scratches, it’s a good idea to include dressings in your first aid kit, so you can properly cover any cuts or grazes your kid might pick up while walking the streets of Alcudia. Also include support bandages, which are great for strains and sprains.
  • Painkillers: Ensure your child always has access to effective pain relief on holiday. Go for junior painkillers syrups and always follow the instructions on the product.
  • Antihistamines: Does your child have an allergy that could flare upon holiday? Include antihistamines in your kit, so you can give them the relief they need to appreciate their Mediterranean getaway. One tablet gives 24 hour relief and is suitable for children over six.
  • Re-hydration measures: It can get really hot in Majorca, especially in summer. Therefore, it’s advisable to include re-hydrations solutions and drinks in your first aid kit.

Storing your medication

If you require a fridge to cool your medication, Club MAC has a unit behind reception which can be used for guests. And if you have booked one of our premium or family suites, you’ll find a fridge in the room.

If you stay in a standard room, you can upgrade or we can help you arrange fridge hire from a local company. Prices can be found at this blog post.

Once booked, fridges usually take up to three hours to arrive.

Amazing holiday

Pack a well-stocked first aid kit so you’re ready for any situation while enjoying your holiday at Club Mac in sun-soaked Majorca!

Macky & Misha: Where it All Started - Club Mac

Today we want to get all nostalgic and explain where it all started for Macky & Misha; the loveable Martians who ensure your kids have a great experience during their time at Club MAC Alcudia.

Kids’ paradise

Here at Club MAC Alcudia – a family resort based in the historic town of Alcudia and its port, Majorca – we do everything we can to make sure your kids have an awesome time with us. We’re lucky enough to count Macky & Misha as part of our children’s entertainment team. Two loveable aliens, Macky & Misha spend their days getting to know all the kids who visit Club MAC, but how did they come to live at our resort?

Visitors to earth

The story begins many years ago when a spaceship from Mars landed on sunny Majorca. The landing was bumpy, and the spaceship fell into a lake, but two crew members escaped.

Stranded, they lived hidden in the bush near the lake for a long time. They watched as a resort and waterpark were built, offering tourists a wonderful place to relax.

Joining the fun

Whilst they were building the resort, some workmen came face-to-face with the aliens. To start with the workmen were a touch afraid, but they soon realised they had nothing to fear from the two friendly little Martians, who they discovered were called Macky & Misha. After talking to the population of the nearby village and the owners of the stunning new resort, everyone decided to welcome Macky and Misha into the Club MAC family.

We even built them their own small house and swimming pool to make them feel comfortable staying at the resort. And the rest’s history. Since their invitation to stay, Macky and Misha have welcomed visitors from all over the planet to Club MAC, ensuring that everyone has a great time. These days they spend their time helping run the activities of the animation team at MINI Club.

They’ve also been kind enough to teach us about themselves and their home planet. They’ve regaled us with tales of their home planet; a stunning place filled with beautiful plants and lush, green forests. With their help our gardeners, they’ve planted a range of picturesque plants and flowers to provide guests with stunning greenery during their stay at Club MAC.

Play with Macky & Misha

Since joining the team, Macky and Misha have played and danced with all the kids at Club MAC. What started as a bumpy landing turned into a fabulous story with a happy ending. Two Martians came to Earth to make friends with your kids during their holiday at Club MAC Alcudia!

Getting Through Airport Security as Quickly as Possible - Club Mac

With Club MAC Alcudia just a plane ride away, you might want to make sure you get through airport security as quickly as possible when you fly out to Majorca.

Getting to Club MAC

You and your family will have a fabulous time at Club MAC Alcudia. Based in the tourist hotspot of Alcudia, Majorca, we have a number of facilities including eight swimming pools and a range of amazing restaurants for you to enjoy. But first you have to catch a flight out from the UK to Majorca. This involves passing airport security; a necessary task, but one that can take far too long if you let it.

Tips for getting through security quickly

If you want to hurry up already and start enjoying your summer getaway, you should do everything you can to get through airport security as quickly as humanly possible. Here are five tips that’ll help you do exactly that!

1)      Get there early: The early bird catches the worm… or in this case the flight. The earlier you get to the airport, the earlier you’ll pass though security, giving you more time to relax and check out duty free before you board your flight.

2)      Prepare your documents: If you don’t have your documents e.g. passport to hand when you reach security, you’ll spend ages looking for them. We’d suggest you store your documents in the easy-to-reach front compartment of your hand luggage if you want to pass through airport security speedily.

3)      Pack hand-luggage properly: Speaking of hand luggage, you should make sure you pack it properly before you arrive at the airport. Therefore if you need to delve into your bag at security, you won’t have to spend ages rifling through your things, ensuring you’ll get through security as soon as you can.

4)      Dress for the occasion: Airport security may ask you to remove pieces of clothing, most often shoes, for safety reasons. You should wear easy-to-remove clothing when you go to an airport, to ensure this process is carried out quickly and efficiently.

5)      Pay for fast track: If you happen to have a little extra cash in your holiday fund, why not shell out for a fast track pass? Some airports allow you to purchase these passes and if they do, they’ll give you priority, so you can make your way through airport security before anyone else!

One step closer to Club MAC

Nobody wants to spend any more time in airport security than they absolutely have to. If you follow these tips you can make your way through as quickly as possible, and take that first step towards enjoying the getaway of a lifetime at Club MAC Alcudia!

Its breathtaking views make it unforgettable. During your stay at Club MAC, this hike is a must. You’ll reach the summit and take in the view. Five great hiking tips

However, there are certain steps we’d advise you take if you to enjoy everything Serra de Tramuntana has to offer. Here are five things you should do when you’re hiking:

1)      Wear sun cream: It gets really hot in Majorca during the summer months. You should make sure you apply sun cream before you set off for a hike, so you’re skin doesn’t burn after spending a few hours exposed to the blazing Spanish sun!

2)      Stay hydrated: Make sure you take a bottle of water with you. When you hike up a mountain, you sweat, so you’ll need that water to stay hydrated throughout your walk.

3)      Schedule rests: You don’t want to get too tired to enjoy your experience whilst you’re hiking up a mountain. You should schedule breaks every half hour so you can stop, rest and enjoy the views.

4)      Dress for the occasion: Have you ever tried walking up a mountain in jeans? We wouldn’t suggest it. You should wear light, breezy clothing e.g. shorts, and sensible shoes to make sure you have the best experience possible whilst hiking in Majorca.

5)      Do your research: If you’re not careful when you’re hiking, you could have an accident. You should minimise the risk of accidents by researching your hiking location and plotting your walking path accordingly, before you set out for Serra Tramuntana.

Enjoy your hike!

Proud heritage

Club MAC Alcudia is a first-rate family resort. It is based in the historic port town of Alcudia, in sunny Majorca. This island has a proud history dating back to Roman times. Signs of its vibrant past can still be spotted today.

The island was a refuge for artists for hundreds of years. This helped Majorca develop a distinct artistic culture over time. This culture produced breathtaking art, music, and architecture that inspired some of history’s greatest creatives. These include Chopin, Ruben Dario, and Joan Miro.

Yannick & Ben Jakober Foundation

You can explore the Island’s unique artistic character by visiting the Yannick & Ben Jakober Foundation. Located in the serene parkland that lies on the outskirts of Alcudia, the Foundation is a non-profit cultural institution which was created in 1993.

people on the beach

We want to make sure you have an amazing time when you come stay at Club MAC Alcudia, which is why we’ve decided to let you know how to stay safe when swimming at sea. Follow these sea swimming safety tips to enjoy your holiday with peace of mind.

Perfect beach holiday

The location makes the holiday, and when you fly out to Majorca you won’t find a better location than Club MAC Alcudia. We’re based near the Majorcan tourist hotspot of Alcudia Bay, which has one of the best beaches in the Balearics.

This means that when you come to Club MAC Alcudia you’re destined to have the perfect beach holiday, as long as you remember to stay safe at all times. Here are a few tips you can use to make sure you stay safe whilst you’re gliding like a swan through the idyllic waters of Alcudia Bay.

Mallorca’s number 1

Alcudia’s beach is one of the most popular amongst residents with locals coming from all over Mallorca to visit its shaded pine groves. Spaniards enjoy spending Sunday’s with a picnic and their families. The clean waters and long beach make it very safe for small children.

Before you swim

You need to start thinking about how to stay safe before you dip even one toe into the Mediterranean. Start by researching the beach before you fly. Make sure there’ll be life guards who can help you stay safe when you swim out to sea.

For more official beach safety guidelines, check out Majorca’s Beach Safety Rules before your trip.

When you swim

You need to keep your wits about you at all times when you’re swimming at sea. Most importantly, we’d suggest that you look out for hazard signs which give you the vital information you need to stay safe in the water. When swimming in Mallorca you will find special areas for swimming and special areas for boats to come ashore.

Using inflatables

We want to take a minute to discuss using inflatables, e.g. water wings, at sea. They can keep you safe whilst you’re doing a few lengths in the Club MAC Alcudia pools, but they’re lightweight. This means that the tide can sweep them away when you’re swimming in the sea if you’re not careful. If your children need inflatables, make sure they stay within your line of sight whilst they’re frolicking in the refreshing waters of Alcudia Bay.

Strong winds

Finally, we need to take a moment to discuss what you should do when you’re swimming at sea and you encounter strong winds. Sometimes strong winds can cause swimmers to end up further ashore and pushed sideways in the sea. Please make sure you keep an eye on your children because they can get dragged out ashore to a point when they can’t see their parents.

Stay safe

Safety should always come first. If you use these sea swimming safety tips, you’ll make sure that you have fun and stay safe when you dip into the waters of Alcudia Bay, so you’ll be able to walk away from your stay at Club MAC Alcudia with memories you’ll cherish forever!

keys in a door

To make sure you make the most of your stay at Club MAC Alcudia, this week we reveal how to keep your home safe when you travel abroad.

Peace of mind

You’re set to have an amazing time when you visit Club MAC Alcudia. We offer a variety of amenities. These include several fantastic restaurants, eight swimming pools, and a kid’s club for your family. During your stay, explore the port town of Alcudia. It offers a wide range of bars, restaurants, monuments, and natural attractions.

You’re set to have the holiday of your life at Club MAC Alcudia. However, you won’t enjoy it if you’re worrying about home. Relax on a sun-drenched beach without a care in the world.

Five ways to keep your home safe

You need peace of mind to appreciate your getaway, which means you should make sure your home is safe before you go on holiday. Here are five tips that’ll help you do exactly that:

1)      Leave the curtains open: An empty house is a target for thieves, so you need to convince people the house is occupied if you want to discourage them from targeting your residence. Closed curtains are a dead giveaway; make sure your curtains are open before you leave for the Balearic Islands.

2)     Hide your valuables: burglars target homes to steal expensive items, like jewellery. Hide these items before you leave. This will give thieves less incentive to target your house while you’re abroad.

3)      Pull the Plugs: You also need to ensure you unplug all your electrical appliances e.g. television, fridge etc., before you leave home for a week of fun in the sun. This will prevent power surges which could damage your property whilst you’re away. Also, make sure you turn all the light off before you go; your electricity bill will thank you!

4)      Tell a neighbour: It pays to have someone watching out for your home when you can’t. Tell a trusted neighbour that you’re going away, so they can inform you immediately if something happens whilst you’re enjoying yourself sunbathing on the glistening sands of Alcudia Beach.

5)      Lock everything: We can’t state enough that you need to ensure all windows and doors are locked and your burglar alarm has been activated before you leave.

Enjoy Club MAC Alcudia

Take these steps to ensure your home is secure before traveling, so you can relax and enjoy your stay at Club MAC Alcudia with peace of mind.
