If you are looking for activities to do in Majorca for an adventurous family holiday, then look no further. We share with you some of the more exciting activities to do in Alcudia and beyond.

Of course, holidays are for escaping the mundane and enjoying some relaxation, but they’re also for letting loose and having fun. After all, this is why a holiday in America is called a vacation, because you vacate your everyday life for fun in the sun.

Majorca has long been a destination for those who like to spend time outdoors and take part in activities. Family holidays are for making memories that you can cherish for a lifetime, and a holiday filled with excitement and adventure will certainly help you all do that.

What activities can I do in Majorca?

Hiking

Hiking is a much loved pastime in Majorca, and there are some incredible places right in the heart of Alcudia where Club MAC is located. There are easy, moderate and challenging hikes for every level of fitness and age to try. Some walks are perfect for exploring independently, while others are better with a guide who has specialized knowledge of the terrain and environment. Guided walks are often more suitable for families with older children or teenagers.

You could try the following in Alcudia:

All of these walks can be taken at your own pace (or the pace of the little ones), feature places to rest and can all be under 3 hours.

  • Alcudia Coastal Walk – This is an easy walk that takes up to 3 hours, depending on how many times you stop for a cool drink or a swim in the sea. Ideally, for an active day out with the little ones.
  • Puig de Sant Martí Walk – This walk is perfectly located just behind Club MAC hotel. The walk is enjoyed by families every year with children of all ages, and the views from the top are spectacular.
  • Alcudia Old Town Walk – If you’re looking for an accessible walk, then this is the perfect one. It’s the ideal way to see Alcudia Old Town whilst soaking up the sights and culture.

Tips for a successful walk:

  • Go prepared – Water, snacks, sun cream, hat, plasters, wet wipes!
  • Follow a route – Club MAC or the local tourist office can help here
  • Plan for regular rest, refreshment and play stops
  • Check the weather for that day and wear appropriate footwear
  • Make it fun, educational and make sure you ‘leave no trace

Snorkelling

Snorkeling is an activity suitable for any family member who knows how to swim. The safe, crystal clear waters and sheltered rocky bays provide the ideal environment for avid snorkellers. There’s so much to see along the coastline in Alcudia, and it provides a wonderful pastime for the whole family to do something together that’s fun and educational. Snorkelling is probably one of the most accessible and family friendly activities you can do on your family holiday.

Coasteering

A relatively new activity and somewhat related to snorkelling is Coasteering. This activity is best enjoyed by families with children over a certain age and ideally by a guide to ensure safety and expert knowledge is used. Coasteering involves exploring the rugged coastline by way of scrambling, climbing, swimming, snorkelling and leaping. This is a fun way to experience Majorca and all the coastal treasures it has to offer.

Cycling

Cycling is another family friendly activity to do in Majorca. In fact, many people choose to holiday in Majorca because it is such a wonderful place to experience this activity. This is why many of the pro-cycling teams use Majorca as a base for their cycle training. So, what are you waiting for? Hire some bikes and get exploring this Majorcan island paradise by cycling its many wonderful routes.

Other fun activities that the whole family can enjoy include rock climbing, watersports, sailing, cave exploring, diving and, of course, there’s free entry to the Hidropark for all residents who are enjoying their family holiday at Club Mac.

From the food and drink in our all-inclusive holiday deal to the waterpark opposite, the nearby beach and the swimming pools on site, Club MAC is a kids’ paradise!

Why is Club MAC such a great ‘kids-included’ resort?

We have three restaurants serving all-you-can-eat buffets for breakfast and dinner. Each of the hotel buildings has its own restaurant – Jupiter, Saturno and Marte. Every evening we have a different theme for dinner, ranging from Chinese to Spanish.

And the best thing for kids is that they have their very own kids’ corner in each restaurant. Packed with everything they love to eat, including nuggets, fries and pizza, there will be something for everyone. Children can also enjoy the main buffet too. Soft drinks are available at the bars on site, and there are several areas just for kids where they can help themselves to ice-cream and soda.

In each restaurant, there are also highchairs for babies, and we offer home-made purees or a microwave for baby food. Breakfast is between 8am and 10.30am in each restaurant, with a late breakfast until 12pm in Jupiter. Lunch is served between 12pm and 3pm in just Jupiter and Marte, with snacks available in the former until 6pm. Our Lake Burger Bar is also popular with children and offers fast food between 12.30pm and 4pm, while our Wagon Pizza offers two different types of pizza every day at the playground area from 12.30pm to 5.30pm. Dinner is from 6pm to 9pm (Marte until 9.30pm) in all three restaurants, with Jupiter serving a late dinner till midnight.

How Guests Are Helping to preserve Majorca - Club Mac

At Club MAC Alcudia, we proudly support sustainable tourism while showcasing Majorca’s natural beauty. By staying with us, not only will you enjoy the island’s wonders, but you’ll also contribute to preserving this magnificent destination for future generations. Moreover, your stay helps protect the environment and supports local conservation efforts, ensuring that Majorca remains a beautiful place for years to come. Therefore, your visit makes a meaningful impact on both the island and its future.

What is sustainable tourism?

Sustainable tourism helps to make a positive impact on the environment. Tourism generally has a significant impact on the natural resources of a region, affecting everything from pollution to social systems. Majorca is taking several steps to make sure that the tourists who enjoy this holiday destination can still see the environmental splendor without it having too many negative impacts on the island. Tourism tax funds this initiative.

What is the tourist tax?

This charge applies to holidaymakers visiting Majorca. The money raised goes to protecting the resources on the islands.

What is being done?

The Sustainable Tourism Promotion Commission (CITS) approved 70 projects for funding. The funding came from the 2017 sustainable tourism tax revenue. The Chairman of the Committee, Biel Barceló, hails that this helps them reach their goal of preservation. He states that “we got our goal… [to] compensate for the ecological footprint of tourism and the improvement of the environment”. This is sure to make Majorca a continually beautiful place to spend your holidays!

In Majorca, €29.7 million funds 27 sustainable tourism projects. Protecting and recovering the natural environment is very important to this committee. They want to preserve, modernize and recover the natural, rural, agricultural and marine environment and rehabilitate the agricultural landscape through such methods as replanting trees. The region is truly cared for with this effort.

At Club MAC, we enjoy the unique nature of Alcudia. The nearby natural attractions, such as S’albufereta and Puig de Sant Martí, are a must for any visitor to our resort. Their beauty makes for great day trips memorable for all the family. With these investments into our island, you and your family can enjoy these wonders for years to come!

How much will tourism tax cost?

The cost of tourism tax to your holiday is almost unnoticeable. Sustainable tourism at Club MAC Alcudia is supported through a charge of €2 per night (plus 10% VAT) from May to October and 0.50€ from November to April, for each person aged 16 or older. Starting from the 9th night of your stay, the fee is reduced by 50%. For this low price, you’ll get to enjoy your holiday, safe in the knowledge that the beauty of Majorca will be there to greet you on any return visits. Remember, on your next holiday with us, to take in the natural wonders as you enjoy all that Club MAC and Alcudia has to offer.

Club MAC Check In and Out

Here at Club MAC Alcudia, we understand that you want to start your holiday as soon as possible. We try to make every moment as exciting as possible, with all our facilities available to guests no matter when they arrive. But before you can relax, here are a few things you should know about checking in and out of our resort.

Check-In

It is important to remember that a booking is valid from 2pm to 11am the next day. When arriving at Club MAC, you can check in from 2pm on your arrival date. If you are arriving with us in the early hours of the morning and don’t want to wait until 2pm to access your room, we suggest you do book an extra day from the night before. This will give you access to your room straight after arrival; always a blessing when travelling with children!

But if you turn up early and your room isn’t quite ready, you’ll be given access to the luggage room and changing facilities as well as your all-inclusive bracelet so you can go ahead and enjoy the facilities straight away.

You’ll be able to dig into the food and drinks, go straight to the water park and enjoy the whole resort complex straight away while we get your room sorted. It’s always good to have a small bag of essentials to help you enjoy your holiday straight away if you do arrive early. Make sure you can easily grab your swimming costumes, towels, flip flops and everything else you’d need.

What to bring?

You’ll need to bring a print out of your tour operator’s voucher. We can’t accept a screenshot on your mobile phone, so do make sure you have a physical copy of it. If you have made a direct booking with us this is not necessary.

We’ll also need to see a passport for everyone in your party. If you have them ready up front you’ll get through the process more quickly. You’ll then need to sign on a tablet and, if you’re from the UK, input your postcode, select your address and leave your email.

All-Inclusive bracelet

After the formal stuff has been completed, you’ll all get your all-inclusive bracelet. They’re personalised for every guest, so must be applied individually at reception.

Once you have your bracelet, you’ll be asked to pay the local environmental tax, which is 1.1 Euros (including VAT) per adult (aged 16+) per night. You don’t need to pay any for children, and if you’re staying for a while, after the ninth night the tax will be halved.

You’ll then get your keys, our welcome leaflet and lots of information on the resort.

Late Check-Out

If you have a late flight or just want a final lie in on the last day of your holiday, we have options to extend your check out past 11am. In some cases, we can offer a late check out. These are confirmed the night before departure only. To extend your check out, simply go to the reception after 6pm to ask if there is availability and if the room can be kept for a few more hours. If you’re travelling with children and want to guarantee that you have a room up until you must leave us, we strongly recommend that you book an extra night with us. This will ensure there is a room available to you. For ease, this booking can be done directly with us at reception, even if you have booked your holiday through a tour operator.

If we have limited availability, and you can’t keep your room for longer, a courtesy room can be used to store your baggage and freshen up. In any case, your all-inclusive package is still available until you leave the hotel on your departure day.

A picture of some colorful vases

When you’re with us at Club MAC Alcudia, you can be sure there will be plenty to do. From shopping at our night stalls in the evening to taking part in our huge variety of activities during the day, there’s always something to keep the whole family happy on site.

Sometimes it’s nice to leave the resort and head out into Mallorca. There are beaches, towns and restaurants to discover, as well as regular markets to browse and beaches to explore.

Biggest weekly market in Mallorca

One of the largest weekly markets on the island can be found in the town of Inca every Thursday morning. You’ll find the streets in the centre of town alive with stalls that sell everything imaginable. From fruit and veg to shawls, flowers, soaps and souvenirs, it’s a bustling, colourful experience that you will definitely enjoy.

The town of Inca is famous for its leather goods, so you’ll see plenty of bags, jackets, shoes and other leather treasures in the stalls. Be prepared to spend hours at the market as there are hundreds of stalls to discover. Inca itself is a fairly large town in Mallorca and is located on the main road from Palma to Alcudia.

Book an excursion to Inca

You could book a half day excursion to Inca, just ask at reception for details of how to do this. Or you can get buses – it will take around an hour and a half at the most and usually means two buses and a short walk from our site.

To work out a route, enter the details here. Inca isn’t just about the market, although it could keep you busy for a whole day! Check out the fantastic restaurants serving up traditional Mallorcan food, and enjoy the pavement café culture of this typical Spanish town.

Hire a car

If you’d rather drive to Inca, then you can hire a car. We can help you get a good deal on the best car for your trip. Once you’ve had your fill of the market then you could visit the nearby town of Binssalem. Famous for its vineyards and for the production of Mallorcan wine, it’s a great extra to your day trip.

Inca is also very near to the foothills of the Tramuntana mountains. You could take a scenic drive through the countryside to pone of the villages, or follow one of the walking trails if you fancy a hike.

And, when you’ve had your fill, you can hop on back to Club MAC for our programme of evening entertainment – sounds like a good day to us!

Choose from wooden items that can be personalised with your family name, or talk with the local craftsman who can make you anything you like out of metal wire.

The perfect toy

There’s everything you can think of at the toy stall. As well as traditional toys like cuddly dogs, toy cars and Lego, you’ll also find the ‘must have’ toys of the year, like fidget spinners. Get your kids a tattoo!

Don’t worry, it’s not a real tattoo. It’s a special salon that creates tattoo transfers for kids. They come in loads of different designs and are waterproof, so won’t get washed away in the pool. The tattoos will delight your kids and should last around a month, so will be a lovely reminder of the holiday when you get back home.

Waffles and crepes

Even with all of our lovely food on site, sometimes you just want an extra treat in the evening. The night market has a stall offering delicious freshly made crepes and waffles, with loads of different toppings. There are more than 15 flavour combinations, including strawberries, ice cream and Nutella. Delicious!
