Alcudia's beach

One of the best things about coming to Club MAC for your summer holiday is the mix of resort and beach life we can offer. We are ideally situated opposite the Hidropark and less than 1km away from the beautiful sandy beach. What could be better?

Whether you want to sunbathe by one of our many pools, take part in the on-site activities, visit the waterpark for free or head down to the beach, the choice is yours. Here’s everything you need to know about Alcudia beach.

Beach holidays in Mallorca don’t get better than Playa d’Alcudia

The first thing that you will notice about Play d’Alcudia is the beautiful, white sand. Some people liken it to Caribbean beaches, thanks to its fine, soft sand and warm, shallow waters.

Alcudia beach is a blue flag stretch of coastline stretching from Port d’Alcudia. It’s lined with hotels and resorts, and there are plenty of facilities all around. The area has been welcoming visitors and holidaymakers for decades, and the main reason for Port d’Alcudia’s popularity is the gorgeous beach.

It’s the biggest beach in the Balearics with 7km of sand. Facilities on offer include beach bars, restaurants, lots of different watersports, public toilets, showers, sunbeds, parasols, WiFi connection and car parks.

Safe, shallow waters mean Alcudia beach is ideal for the kids

Playa d’Alcudia can be split roughly into two sections. The first goes from Port d’Alcudia to Ciudad Blanca and includes most of the facilities. If you head further into the bay towards Playa de Muro, it becomes quieter and more peaceful.

During high season, the beach does get busy, and this is when lifeguards are on duty. They are not there for the entire holiday season (May to October), so it’s always wise to be safe and get your kids to wear armbands and take floats.

Families in particular love Alcudia beach thanks to its safe, relatively shallow waters. The turquoise water is lovely to paddle in. Swimming is also possible although you will have to walk out until you reach deeper water.

Watersports and activities at Alcudia beach

The sand stretches for 7km and is around 80m deep. This means plenty of space for everyone, even during the busiest months. There are wooden walkways towards the back of the beach to make it easy to access for pushchairs and wheelchairs.

And when you’ve had your fill of sunbathing on golden sand, you can take part in different water sports. A variety of boat trips start from the beach, ranging from diving. expeditions to short cruises. To find out about boat trips, diving and other excursions, visit Guest Services or Reception and we can help you book beach-based fun.

Other activities include beach sports, banana boats, canoeing, scuba diving, fishing, inflatables, pedalos, paddle-boarding, excursions and other water sports. These are all bookable at the beach itself, and not through Club MAC.

How to get to the beach from Club MAC

To get to the beach from Club MAC, you can take an easy 15-minute walk. Or you can hop on our complementary shuttle bus that runs between the resort and the beach. The bus is free and runs from 10am to 5pm leaving from the main gate at Club MAC. The timetable is available on the Club MAC app, the Resort section of our website and pinned up outside the gates.

Playa d’Alcudia is always popular with Club MAC guests. To find out what people think of the beach, take a look at TripAdvisor, where you will see plenty of excellent reviews.

Activities at the beach

If you feel more energetic than a cruise, and don’t fancy full-on diving, then there are loads of fun things to do at the beach. Companies rent out pedalos, banana boats and ringos among other activities. There are also a few different diving centres nearby for those taking their water activity a bit more seriously.

Here are just some of the courses, activities and fun things to do at Alcudia beach:

  • Catamaran Sailing Courses – Fast and thrilling, catamarans offer beginner and intermediate courses to experience the excitement of sailing.
  • Coasteering – A fun three-hour adventure exploring Alcudia, Manacor, and Calvia’s coastline with family and friends.
  • Stand-up Paddle Boarding – Great for all ages, this easy-to-learn activity can be booked for one hour or a full day.
  • Kayak Hire – Rent single or double kayaks for an hour or a whole day.

What does Club MAC Alcudia’s three-star rating mean? - Club Mac

When booking a holiday, you will generally see a star rating next to the resort or hotel. And while it may seem that all star ratings are comparable, the reality is they differ from country to country.

Not only does every country have different criteria for their star ratings, but tour operators and local governments do too. Club MAC Alcudia offers an all-inclusive 3-star hotel on the beautiful island of Mallorca.

What does an all-inclusive 3-star hotel rating mean in Spain?

In Spain, the star rating for a hotel is determined by the local government. Each hotel and resort must fill out a form for the Balearic government. This covers the facilities and amenities they offer. Based on this information, the government uses a points system to determine the star rating.

In Mallorca, basic facilities that reach a 3-star standard include air conditioning, heating, WiFi, internet terminals in the hallways, 24-hour reception, seating areas and laundry services. In the rooms, 3-star facilities include air conditioning, bedside tables, mirror, TV, safe, a desk, plug sockets and shampoo are required. A three-star hotel like Club MAC also offers buffet services for meals.

To reach four-star status, a hotel or resort must also offer a public bar, luggage services, 24 hour laundry services, double bedrooms with lounge, a separate toilet and shower, bedside lights, WiFi in each room, a minibar in the room, sheets changed at least twice a week and a shoe polishing service.

For five stars, hotels must also offer luggage services to the room, porters, magazines, sewing kits, welcome gifts, a turn-down service, a 12-hour laundry service, make-up mirror, a phone in the bathroom, bathrobe and slippers, two pillows each and 24-hour room service.

Other factors taken into consideration by the government when determining star ratings include facilities in public areas, disabled access, car parking, extra services, swimming pools, entertainment, spa, events facilities, technology and energy efficiency.

Club MAC is a 3-star family friendly hotel resort

At Club MAC, we cater for families and those who want to have a fun, relaxed and action-packed holiday. As we are rated three-star we fit the criteria for these, which includes larger hotels with superior facilities such as swimming pools, gardens, sun terraces, TVs and entertainments.

Our food is a comprehensive and varied buffet breakfast across all three restaurants. In the evening, we have a buffet-style themed dinner, again at all of our restaurants. At lunch time, we have a smaller buffet style meal available in two restaurants, as well as the Lake Burger Bar. Families can also help themselves to ice-cream, slushies and ice pops for the children from the bars.

We have 24-hour facilities on site, including reception and security teams. Club MAC also has a great bunch of skilled entertainers working hard to keep everyone having fun throughout the day and evening.

How does a three-star hotel in Spain compare with other star ratings?

In Spain, one-star hotels and resorts have only very basic rooms. Usually there are shared facilities and bathrooms. One-star resorts do not offer facilities like swimming pools, communal lounges, reception services or TVs. Rooms are small with no balcony access. Food at a one-star Spanish hotel will be simple with limited choices and often is only a bed and breakfast basis.

Two-star resorts offer basic rooms, sometimes with en-suite facilities. Many hotels at this star-rating will have a swimming pool, TV and a larger food choice at an on-site restaurant. They are often located on the seafront, but generally offer far fewer facilities than a three-star hotel.

When you move up to a four- or five-star resort in Spain you can expect to pay significantly higher prices. They will usually have larger bedrooms, room service and a greater number of extras. For example, in some five-star hotels, you can expect concierge service round the clock.

Club MAC offers a balanced holiday

Club MAC Alcudia offers a balance between a wide array of all-inclusive food and drink, different bedroom configurations, and on-site entertainment. It’s important to realise that all-inclusive pertains to our restaurant, bar and snack bar offerings only. Book direct with us for the best prices, and enjoy the best of both worlds at Club MAC Alcudia.

And while this can sometimes mean a queue at peak times at the bars and restaurants, we work hard to make sure you aren’t waiting too long. Our teenage programme of activities runs in July and August too, with specially designed group entertainment just for teens.

End of season at Club MAC

Later in the season, there are no signs of Club MAC fun winding down. Our entertainment team is here for guests right up until the very last day. As the long school summer holiday finishes, the resort becomes slightly quieter again. And the temperatures are still high enough for sunbathing, visiting Playa d’Alcudia and enjoying everything the area has to offer.

September and October are particularly good for excursions, as the cooler temperatures make exploring Alcudia more comfortable. Head into Palma for a shopping spree or take in the marine life at Palma Aquarium. As the later months can mean the occasional bout of rain, we have contingency plans for evening entertainment. Should it rain during show times, then we move them indoors to the ground floor of Saturno and Jupiter.

The October half-term is usually towards the end of the month and the end of our season. So, if comfortably warm temperatures, a busy environment, plenty to do and a laid-back vibe is your idea of a great holiday, booking a holiday at Club MAC during October could be for you.

Don’t forget that booking directly with Club MAC gives you the best prices. See our website for all booking details, and information on food, drink, entertainment and much more at Club MAC. Whenever you decide to book your holiday, we know you will have a great time!
