UNICEF day

Every year Club MAC Alcudia teams up with UNICEF as part of its Hoteles Amigos programme. This year, our UNICEF day of events is on 6 August 2019, and is packed with fun things to do for children and families.

We have been part of the Hoteles Amigos initiative since 2013, when it was launched by the Spanish committee of the nationwide children’s charity UNICEF. The initiative aims to work with the Spanish tourism sector to help ensure all children have access to basic needs such as clean drinking water.

Club MAC’s 2019 UNICEF Fair 2019

Around 30% of our guests are children, and we work hard to cater for all ages. As well as our standard activity programmes, for UNCEF day we have a range of activities, all aimed at raising money for the cause. Here’s what you can expect.

Morning activities for UNICEF Fair 2019

Between 10.30am and 1pm, our entertainment team is hosting a huge party at the fountains and surrounding area. We will have water inflatable games and all kinds of different funfair games.

Each game will cost 0.50 Euros, and all of the proceeds will go to UNICEF. You can also buy a day pass for 2.50 Euros for the inflatable games. Prizes for the funfair games include toys, gadgets and tickets for the charity bingo game that will take place at 4pm.

Afternoon activities for UNICEF Fair 2019

After a break for lunch and a spot of sunbathing, we’re back at 3pm with more fun activities.

These include a special ‘meet and greet’ with our very own mascot Macky. In return for a donation, kids can have their photo taken with Macky himself, and leave their handprint on our very special UNICEF panel.

At 4pm, there will be a group photo opportunity with UNICEF branded balloons in the Marte square area. Directly after this is a dance at the fountain areas.

At 4.30pm, we will be hosting a very special charity bingo game on the Saturno stage. Each ticket will cost 1.50 Euros, which of course goes to UNICEF, and you can win various prizes. If you win a line, the prize will be a gadget or toy, and for a full house of Bingo, you’ll win an excursion.

More charity fun for ‘Drops for Niger’

As well as the UNICEF fair, we’re also hosting a fun race to raise money for a separate project, called ‘Drops for Niger’. This aims to provide water to schools in Niger in West Africa, a region that suffers from a lack of potable water.

Two races will take place during the morning of 6 August 2019:

  • Maxis/teens (8 to 13-year olds) will race twice around the small lake at 11am.
  • Adults (14+) will race once around the big lake at 11.30am.

To help us raise money for this charity project, meet at 10.45am. For a donation of 2.50 Euros, you will receive a charity bracelet and a starting number. Prizes for the races include a Macky gadget for the Maxis/teens race, and an excursion for the winner of the adult’s race. All of this and your photo in the Club MAC paper and shared on our social networks!

To sign up for the race, head to the fountain square on Monday 5 August until 5pm where you’ll find a Club MAC entertainer. If you don’t get time to sign up on Monday, you can head to the meeting point of the race between 10am and 10.45am on 6 August and sign up as a last-minute participant.

We hope you enjoy our UNICEF charity day and fundraising races – we’ll let you know how much you helped us raise in a later blog.
