What can you do in Alcudia this summer?
At Club MAC Alcudia, we’re busy welcoming our early-season visitors and gearing up for a long, hot summer of 30th anniversary fun.
If you’re coming to stay with us this year, then you can be sure of a fun-packed activity itinerary, and all the usual Club MAC good times, including our evening entertainment, sporting activities and kids’ clubs. In fact, we have enough on offer that you may not even want to leave the site for your whole stay, but just in case you do fancy venturing further afield, here are some of the highlights of the surrounding area of Alcudia for you to enjoy.
About Alcudia and Port d’Alcudia
Alcudia used to be a very quiet little town, but these days it’s a vibrant location in north Mallorca. Just one mile inland from Port d’Alcudia, which is the main holiday resort area, Alcudia offers lots of Mallorcan history and heritage without having to venture too far.
Our location of Port d’Alcudia is bustling all the way through the season, from late April right through to the end of September. We have a beautiful beach, with shallow waters perfect for family bathing. At Club MAC we offer a shuttle bus directly to the beach, which is under a kilometre away from our resort.
As well as sunbathing, sand castles and traditional seaside activities, there are also lots of water sports available, ranging from paddle boats to paragliding.
Historical attractions
A ten-minute drive from Port d’Alcudia brings you to the walled town of Alcudia itself. There are centuries of cultural heritage to take in, ranging from the Phonenicians, Grelks and Romans to the Vandals, Byzantines and Arab cultures, before it was conquered by the Catalan Christians.
You can see traces of all of these cultures in the town’s walls and layout. The harbour at Port d’Alcudia was built in 1779 giving the town a solid future of trade and commercial activity.
Shopping and dining out
There is a lovely pedestrian area in Alcudia with lots of cafes, restaurants, boutiques and interesting shops to explore. During high season, you’ll find open-air concerts and plays using the ancient town walls as a backdrop. The music covers everything from medieval tunes to modern Jazz, and the plays tend to be dedicated to the history of the area.
Every Tuesday and Sunday there is an open-air market in Alcudia, which has two sections. One includes the island’s farmers selling local produce and the other contains every kind of souvenir you could imagine, as well as clothes, jewellery, handbags and shoes.
