If you think Mallorca is only a summer destination, keep reading. Spring — especially April — offers some of the island’s most beautiful scenery, authentic traditions, and family-friendly experiences. And with Club Mac reopening on April 1st this year, it’s the perfect moment to enjoy a quieter, more relaxed version of the island while still having everything you need for an unforgettable holiday.

Almond Blossoms & Outdoor Adventures

Even as spring begins, you can still spot the iconic almond blossoms, painting the countryside in soft pink and white. Temperatures are mild and perfect for outdoor activities:

  • Hiking in the Serra de Tramuntana, with clear skies and fresh air
  • Cycling, one of Mallorca’s favourite spring sports.
  • Exploring the Albufera Natural Park — located very near to Club MAC — where families can enjoy nature trails and bird-watching.

With no scorching weather and fewer crowds, it’s the ideal time for families who love being outdoors. And when you return to Club MAC, you’ll have a safe and fun space for kids to relax, play, and enjoy all-inclusive meals, pools, and entertainment.

Easter in Mallorca: Tradition, Culture & Flavour

Easter is one of the most important celebrations on the island, and it brings incredible cultural experiences:

  • Crist de la Sang procession in Palma on Easter Thursday — the most iconic and emotional of the year.
  • La Davallada in Pollença on Easter Friday — a dramatic re-enactment of Christ’s descent, unforgettable to witness.

And of course… traditional sweets! You’ll find panades, robiols, and crespells in all the bakeries and major supermarkets during Easter week. Nearby you will be able to find them at Panord, Carrer de Copenhaguen, 2, just 400m from the hotel.

Local Markets You’ll Love

Spring is perfect for wandering through Mallorca’s traditional markets. Some favourites include:

  • Sineu – one of the island’s oldest markets
  • Inca – great for leather goods and local products
  • Santanyí – colourful, lively and full of artisan stalls

A fun way to spend a morning with the family, discovering flavours, crafts, and island culture. Back at Club MAC, you can relax knowing everything from meals to kid-friendly entertainment is taken care of.

Family Fun, Indoors and Out

While Mallorca’s spring weather is usually sunny, it’s always good to have a plan B. Luckily, many parks and attractions reopen at this time of year, including:

  • Safari Zoo
  • Katmandu Park
  • Palma Aquarium

Perfect options for a day of excitement — especially if the clouds roll in. And if the kids need to burn off energy before or after a day trip, Club MAC’s pools (with the Saturno pool being heated in colder weather), playgrounds, and entertainment team have got you covered.

Plus, at Club MAC’s Guest House reception, you can book a wide range of excursions for the whole family. From nature walks to water parks and cultural outings, there’s always something new to explore. To discover all the experiences available, visit the Excursions section in our FAQ

passport

If you’re planning a holiday at Club MAC Alcudia and you’re a non-EU citizen, such as someone travelling from the UK, it’s important to know about the Entry/Exit System (EES) — a new automated system being introduced across the Schengen area.

What is the EES?

The Entry/Exit System replaces the traditional passport stamping at EU borders. Instead of getting a stamp, border authorities will record:

  • Your passport information
  • A facial image
  • Up to four fingerprints (for travellers who don’t require a visa)

This system automatically tracks when you enter and leave the Schengen area, helping calculate the 90-days in 180-days rule for short stays.

When Does the EES Start?

The EES will begin operation on 12 October 2025, but its rollout will be gradual over six months. Full implementation — meaning the system will be in use at all EU external borders — is expected by 10 April 2026.

During the rollout, some borders may still stamp passports or use older methods if things get busy.

How Does It Affect You as a Traveller?

If you’re visiting Majorca from the UK or another non-EU country:

  • On your first crossing, you’ll register biometrics (photo + fingerprints) along with your passport.
  • Subsequent crossings will be faster using the data already stored, unless your passport changes.
  • Children under 12 are generally exempt from fingerprinting.

It’s worth noting that the EES is free of charge. This is different from the ETIAS travel authorisation, which will come into effect eventually once the EES has been fully rolled out and may incur a small fee.

Tips for a Smooth Border Experience

To make your journey through the EES as smooth as possible:

  • Check your passport: Make sure it’s valid and, if needed, has a biometric chip.
  • Allow extra time: Especially during the early rollout, border checks may take slightly longer.
  • Be ready at the border: Have your passport ready, let them take your photo, and provide fingerprints if required.
  • Future trips will be faster: Once your data is stored, crossing borders will be quicker unless your passport details change.
  • Remember: EES only records entry and exit data — it does not change visa rules or your allowed days in the Schengen area.

If you bear these points in mind, you can ensure that your holiday at Club MAC Alcudia starts off stress-free and that you are ready for a fun-filled family holiday!

Club MAC’s guide to packing for a beach holiday in the low season - Club Mac

Packing for a low season beach holiday is a bit different from preparing for a peak summer getaway. While you can still enjoy Majorca’s sunny beaches, the cooler days and occasional rain showers mean you need to plan your packing carefully. Keep these packing essentials in mind once you’ve booked your trip and are getting down to the brass tacks:-

Clothing

Low season at the beach can mean the odd shower, but in Majorca, it usually doesn’t last long and the day is soon back to sunshine! But the sun is more pleasant without the scorching temperatures of peak summer, so you should pack accordingly. Ensure you are carrying some long sleeve shirts and pants. Day temperatures are warm during the low season, but for cooler evenings and early mornings, it’s a good idea to pack a knitted top or a light jacket that can be layered with your vacation wardrobe. Remember that sea breezes tend to bring down the waterfront temperatures.

Accessories

Pack your regular toiletries but do not forget the sunscreen. You can get sunburnt even when the weather is less sunny. It is essential to use a high-SPF sunscreen at all times when you are outdoors to protect against UVA and UVB rays. For the same reason, carry your sunglasses and umbrellas (which will come in handy during the occasion spell of rain).

Visiting the beach during the low season can mean as much time spent doing activities like hikes and coastal walks as you spend in the water. Pack some multipurpose shoes along with your sandals or flip-flops. You’ll need sturdy shoes for walking on rocks and/or rubber boots for crossing rivulets or exploring the wetlands in Albufera National Park.

For your little ones

If you are travelling with babies or young children, remember to pack full coverage clothing, layers, and sun protection for them along with other essentials that ensure a stress-free travelling experience. Bring a blanket that you can put on their pram during evenings spent outdoors.

Also consider

If it’s a cloudy day or you’d rather not spend the day at the beach, there are plenty other things to do in and around Club MAC, such as these adventurous activities that are always popular among our guests. You can pack a phrase book that will help you get around Alcudia’s beautiful Old Town and medieval walls by yourself, and will come in handy when you want to do some bargain shopping for souvenirs. The local market in Alcudia runs on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, and is worth the visit to town!

A binocular will allow you to indulge in birdwatching and perhaps discover a new hobby. The birdlife in Majorca is vast and splendid. There are more than 270 identified species, of which some are at home in the surrounding wetland all year round. You can also ask for available excursions at the reception, and we’d be happy to arrange one for you.

A beach holiday during the low season can mean having to put up with a bit of unpredictable weather and fluctuating temperatures, but it is a worthwhile experience once you factor in the cheap flights, thinner crowds, being able to experience more outdoor activities, and the chance to enjoy a peaceful vacation at a stunning seaside location with your loved ones.

Club MAC airport transfers

When you book your holiday to Club MAC, you’ll be looking forward to all of the fun we have to offer. We are ideal for family holidays, particularly with children, as the resort is packed with activities, swimming pools, all-inclusive food and drink and more. But it’s important not to forget the more mundane aspects of going on holiday, and one of the most important is travel insurance.

Why you need travel insurance

It can seem like just another expense, but travel insurance is really important. A standard travel insurance policy will normally provide cover for delays and cancellations, medical expenses if you need to visit a hospital or doctor while on holiday, and personal liability if you damage someone or their things.

We have an on-site doctor at Club MAC Alcudia, who is happy to help you with any problems you have. Please note that if your travel insurance policy has an excess, this will have to be paid, so choose a policy without an excess in order to see the on-site doctor without having to pay.

Travel insurance isn’t just about accessing a doctor, it’s also about protecting your bags and possessions. The most important coverage is for emergency assistance or repatriation to the UK due to illness or injury. Although we hope nothing disrupts your family holiday at Club MAC Alcudia, travel insurance is essential.

Average claim

The average medical claim on a travel insurance policy is around £1,000, and if the worst should happen and someone dies abroad then getting back to the UK can reach heights of £17,000. Despite these high figures, travel policies start from less than £5 per person, and around £17 for a family.

Make sure you buy the policy with plenty of time to go before your holiday, as this will cover you if you run into certain problems beforehand. This could be some kind of cancellation by travel companies or traveller illness.

European and Global Health Insurance Cards

For EU guests, the European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) covers emergencies at no cost. It covers necessary treatment until you return home. Treatment is given like it would be to locals—either free or at a reduced cost.

Unfortunately, it’s not yet applicable to citizens of the UK since Brexit. This means you’ll need a Global Health Insurance Card (GHIC) to ensure you can access necessary medical care while abroad. The GHIC gives you the right to state-provided healthcare during a temporary stay in EU countries, either free or at a reduced cost. Make sure to apply for your GHIC before traveling to ensure a stress-free and safe holiday – you can register and get one for free at the NHS site. Make sure you have a card before you join us at Club MAC

However, EHIC and GHIC are not an alternative to travel insurance, and you still need a good policy. When deciding which one to go for, consider the duration first. Do you want an annual policy or a one-off just for a specific time frame? It depends how many times a year you and your family travel.

Different policies

Of course, not all travel insurance policies are the same, so you must read the small print and ensure it provides what you need for your family. Family travel insurance is usually suitable for two adults and up to four kids under 18, for example. This will generally be cheaper than insuring each person individually. Watch out for the small print as they vary by insurer when it comes to age restrictions, whether you all live together or whether you’re a single parent family.

Standard insurance policies don’t cover pre-existing medical conditions. So, if you have a condition that you have previously had treatment for, or have gone t the doctor about, you must give these details to the insurer. This includes things like cancer, heart problems, asthma and many more, and even if it was years ago, it’s still relevant.

People with pre-existing conditions pay more for travel insurance. If you hide this and issues arise, your claim is rejected. Even after sharing your medical history, you might still get standard insurance or a slightly higher rate.

Whichever policy you land on, we hope you have a safe and illness free holiday at Club MAC Alcudia! Don’t forget to book directly with us either online or by phone. We offer free cancellation until midnight before your arrival. Secure your booking with just a 10% deposit.

What Should You Do If You Lose Your Passport in Majorca? - Club Mac

Before heading to Club MAC Alcudia for a summer getaway, ask yourself: What if you lose your passport in Majorca? By researching this now, you’ll have the peace of mind to enjoy your time in the Balearics this summer!

Getting back home

The Passports Office explains what you should do if you lose your passport, or if it is damaged, stolen or expires while you’re abroad in Majorca. For security reasons make sure the old passport is cancelled and if it has been stolen, report it to the police. Then, try and get a replacement passport, but if you can’t do that then get an Emergency Travel Document (ETD) which will let you leave Majorca and come back home.

An ETD is valid for a specific journey, allowing travel to the UK or your resident country through up to five countries. It won’t guarantee entry if you need a visa, but you don’t need to worry for direct flights from Majorca to the UK. You can only travel to the destinations listed on your ETD application. If your plans change, you’ll need a new ETD.

Applying for an ETD

If you need to get an ETD while you’re in Majorca, you will need to contact the British Consulate in Palma. You will need to apply in person and the Consulate advises that if you’re due to travel within 48 hours of losing your passport, contact them as soon as possible. Otherwise you should make an appointment to visit the Consulate and apply for an ETD. Bring the following to your appointment:

  • A filled out ETD application form.
  • The £95 application fee in euros.
  • A recent passport-quality photo of yourself.
  • Proof of your travel plans e.g. booking confirmation.
  • A police report if your passport has been stolen.

Keep it secure

To avoid needing an ETD, keep your passport secure while in Majorca. At Club MAC Alcudia, we ensure your peace of mind. Use the free safe in your room to keep your passport secure!

Five Ways to Find a Cheaper Flight - Club Mac

If you want to have as much spending money in your wallet as possible when you reach Majorca read on, as this week Club MAC Alcudia reveals five ways to find a cheaper flight.

Money, Money, Money

Club MAC Alcudia is an outstanding family resort in the port town of Alcudia in Majorca. Alcudia is a tourist’s dream, with a treasure trove of authentic Majorcan shops and activities just waiting for you to explore.

Yet you won’t get the full Alcudia experience if you arrive in the port town with limited funds. One way to shore up your getaway budget is to look at how much you’re spending on flights. With the modern low-cost airline world we live in, you don’t have to pay a king’s ransom to fly to Majorca.

Start With These Five Ways to Find a Cheaper Flight

Do you know where to begin when it comes to finding cheaper flights? If you don’t, start by trying out the following five ways to find a deal…

1)      Search Price Comparison Sights: The clue’s in the title. You can use a price comparison sight to look at all available flights to your destination. Then it’s just a simple matter of picking the cheapest one.

2)      Search at the Right Time: Any skilled traveller knows that if you book a train ticket at least a month in advance you pay less for your journey. Flight tickets work the same way. Airlines bump up the price of their flights as they inch closer to departure. Book your flight as early as possible.

3)      Be Flexible: If you search for a flight that sets off on Monday at 5pm you can only choose form flights that set off on Monday at 5pm. Yet if you widen your search parameters, you might find a cheaper flight on Monday at 7pm. A flexible holidaymaker is one who pays less for their flights.

4)      Follow Airlines on Social Networks: Airlines like to promote themselves. They like to have followers on social networks. As such they often choose to release flight deals exclusively on their social media accounts. Follow airlines on social networks like Facebook, Instagram or TikTok if you want to find the best flight deals to your destination.

5)      Search Multiple Airlines: Sometimes getting a return flight from one provider isn’t the best way to reap value for money. Try looking for separate single flights from multiple providers instead. You may find that EasyJet provide a cheaper flight to Majorca, but Jet2 have a cheaper flight back!

Take Advantage of Everything Majorca Has to Offer

Don’t let the cost of a flight drain your holiday pot. Use these tips and find the cheapest flight possible. That way you’ll have all the money you need to take advantage of everything Majorca has to offer when you come to stay at Club MAC Alcudia!
