Club MAC Alcudia long-serving female staff

At Club MAC Alcudia, we take immense pride in our long-serving female staff who have been instrumental in crafting memorable holidays in Alcudia.  A key ingredient that makes our hospitality a success is the invaluable contribution of our female staff.

On International Women’s Day, let’s meet some of the Club MAC Alcudia long-serving female staff who have been part of the Club MAC family for the longest!

Meet Isabel

Our reservations manager, Isabel Solé, started her Club MAC journey at the tender age of 16 as a reception assistant. She has spent 35 years with us, witnessing and contributing to the resort’s growth through various positions. From the days of three separate hotels with receptions to the switch to all-inclusive services, Isabel has been an integral part of our evolution. She has witnessed such iconic moments as the birth of Macky and Misha, and is one of the few people around who can claim to have used an old telephone switchboard with patch cords back in the day.

Meet Marga

Marga Muntaner has been an integral part of Club MAC for over four decades. Like Isabel, she also joined the resort at the young age of 16 as a reception assistant and worked her way up to her current supervisory role as the Housekeeping and Reception Manager. Her parents also worked at Club MAC – her father was a chef and her mother a head housekeeper – which shows how much Club MAC is a family affair. Marga’s expertise in the hospitality industry is unmatched, and her dedication to ensuring that our guests have a comfortable stay is evident in her daily work.

Meet Nathalie

Nathalie Jaguin joined Club MAC in 1994 in the reservations department and thereafter moved to customer services. Nathalie’s friendly demeanour and willingness to help guests have made her a valuable member of the team. Her years of experience and expertise have helped her achieve the position of General.

Meet Xisca

Xisca Sastre started with us in 1988, and has been a part of the Club MAC family for 35 years and counting . She initially assisted the human resources team in the head offices. When the company took over Club MAC, she moved to the resort and became the Human Resources Manager. Xisca’s vast experience and people skills have helped her to maintain a happy and motivated staff at Club MAC.

Meet Mari

Mari Corrales arrived at the Club MAC complex only a few years after its inauguration. Starting in dining in 1977, she began her career with us. A year was also spent in housekeeping before her return to dining. Excelling in her role, she quickly became Maitre d’.

Meet Ana

Ana Alonso began her journey at Club MAC way back in 1975 at the young age of 14 years. She has worked her up all the dining room positions, picking up personal and professional achievements along the way, until she became Supervisor. Thanks to her extensive experience in customer service, she is now a go-to person for guidance for our staff. Ana is a true Club MAC veteran!

Celebrating Club MAC Alcudia long-serving female staff, we honor women’s contributions to the economy, society, and community. The women at Club MAC show dedication and hard work. We are proud of their efforts in making Club MAC a success.

Also meet colleagues from the Club MAC entertainment team!

Guide to Kid-Friendly Cuisine at Club MAC - Club Mac

Catering to the Littlest Palates: A Feast for Fussy Eaters at Club MAC

At Club MAC, we understand that meal times can be a challenge for parents of picky eaters. Every child has their unique preferences, and some may only stick to a very specific set of foods. Recognising this, we have crafted our dining experiences to cater to even the fussiest of little eaters, ensuring that every family member, regardless of their culinary inclinations, enjoys their stay to the fullest.

Understanding the Challenges

We’ve seen it all – from kids who will only eat plain pasta without sauce to those with very particular preferences. Some families even bring food from the UK, knowing their child might not adapt to different menu options. At Club MAC, we believe mealtime should be stress-free and enjoyable for both parents and children. This is why we’ve gone the extra mile to accommodate these special dining needs.

The Kid’s Corner: A Haven for Young Foodies

Our Kid’s Corner is specially designed to appeal to our youngest guests. Each day of the week, we offer a variety of dishes to ensure that even the most selective eaters find something to their liking. Here’s a glimpse of what our Kid’s Corner menu looks like throughout the week:

  • Monday: Favorites like Grilled Chicken Sirloin, Squid Rings, and British Sausage, accompanied by sides like Crinklcut Potato and Mashed Potatoes.
  • Tuesday: A lineup featuring Chicken Nuggets, Battered Hake Filet, and Spaghetti with Tomato Sauce, plus sides like Potato Criss Cut and French Fries.
  • Wednesday: Options including Grilled Pork, Fish Fingers, and Pizza Margarita, with sides like Potato Rosty and Steamed Corn.
  • Thursday: A selection of Grilled Fish, Cheese and Ham in Breadcrumb, and Pasta with Bolognese Sauce, along with Potato Juliana and Steamed Potato.
  • Friday: Tasty offerings such as Burgers, Cheese Puff Pastry, and Pizza Margarita, complemented by Potatoes Crinkle Cut and Mashed Potatoes and Pumpkin.
  • Saturday: Hearty choices like Grilled Steak, Chicken Nuggets, and Lasagne Bolognese, with sides including Steamed Potato and Sprouts.
  • Sunday: A delightful array including Pork Chops, Fish Fingers, and Pasta with Bolognese Sauce, along with Potato Criss Cut and Mashed Potatoes.

Furthermore, the Lake Burger offers additional kid-friendly favorites like burgers and nuggets, ensuring that there’s always something to suit even the most particular tastes.

The Joy of Buffet Style: Encouraging New Tastes

One of the biggest advantages of our buffet-style dining is the opportunity it provides for children to explore new foods. They can try different dishes in a no-pressure environment. Children can see, smell, and maybe even taste dishes at their own pace. This encourages them to broaden their culinary horizons. Our diverse and colorful presentations make food appealing and fun for kids. We aim to turn mealtime into an adventure rather than a challenge.

Conclusion

At Club MAC, we are committed to ensuring that every guest, regardless of age or dietary preference, has a delightful dining experience. Our carefully curated Kid’s Corner and the inclusive buffet-style dining are designed with the youngest of food enthusiasts in mind, making Club MAC the perfect family-friendly holiday destination. So, for parents worrying about their fussy eaters, rest assured, we’ve got mealtime covered!

Read are some of our customer reviews below:

Holly:

I would class myself and children as fussy eaters, but we always had a great choice of food to choose from at breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Rebecca

The food was so good and was worried as I’m fussy but every night the food was amazing.

Stacey

I am the most fussy  eater ever!! And I found something every time.. the smack bar on the lake from 12.30/4.30 is amazing!

Rebecca

The food is good and always something for everyone My kids are fussy but always found something

Suzanne

The food was nice even my fussy 12 year old had lots of choice.

Kayleigh

The food was exceptional, for my fussy children, always something to eat, always fresh and so much choice. We’ve transferred to a 4 star hotel due to flight delays and the food doesn’t live up to Club Mac.

Rebecca

Food is lovely, there is always something to eat. The kids area inside the restaurant is great for little ones with nuggets, chips, sausages etc. Breakfast was our favourite and they are so fast at bringing it out is something is low. I have 5 children and 3 are fussy and always ate well. No one was ever hungry. We found Jupiter is better for lunch if you wanted to sit in a restaurant. They have a bakery section where you can make your own baguette, sandwich etc. The burger bar is great during the day too if you don’t want to sit inside, you can just take the food back to your sun lounger or eat there on the tables if you wanted. The queue can get long but it goes down very fast as lots of people are working in there. Love the kids bars outside for the children to order their own drinks and ice cream, it was much easier not getting up for them all the time as they could just go up whenever they wanted.

Lee

All the staff were fantastic very clean, food was a very good selection for everyone me and my boys are fussy eaters never went hungry. The lake side burger bar was fantastic long ques but soon went down,

Ashley

The food is great, something for everyone no matter how fussy. This is a busy hotel and always has been. Be prepared to wait a short time for a drink or food but again the staff are brilliant and get you served quickly.

Lauren

The restaurant is amazing – huge variety especially for fussy kids, so much to do and the staff are brilliant with the kids! We are looking to book again for next year! Absolutely amazing 👏 thank you so much!! ❤️

Kevin

Restaurants; You can use any one of the restaurants of the 3 complex’s that you wish, we opted to use the one in Saturno as we liked this best. The food was good to be fair, lots of choice on offer and definitely something for everyone, the themed nights were good, Chinese, Spanish, Italian, Gala, Indian etc. They certainly cater for the brits as there’s always chips and burgers, sausages etc no matter what the theme so if you’re a fussy  eater you’ll be fine! Dessert selections were great too and breakfast was always good, lots of full English type foods, pancakes, fresh fruit, cereal you name it.

Adam

Food 5/5: breakfast couldn’t be faulted, with coffee machines and fresh juices galore. All inclusive Lunch, sandwiches, ice cream and a burger bar to keep you going through the day, Themed meals every night, and even if you’re not a fan they have something for the fussy eaters on (there’s 3 fussy in my house and they at like kings) just be ready to queue if you’re not willing to go and eat by 6:30pm.

Rachel

The Food – you won’t go hungry!! I don’t think I’ve eaten so much before but there were lots of options to pick from and I always like to try as much different things as I can. My kids can be quite fussy eaters but there was plenty to keep them satisfied. Breakfast: Best time to go was about 8am as wasn’t too busy. Lots of selection and I especially enjoyed the Spanish omelette and the pancakes. Lots of hot/cold choices, fruit, bread and juices. Lunch: we ate in Jupiter restaurant out of ease, again Lots of selection both cold and hot.

I really liked the pizza and salad bar. Burger Bar: down by the lake, we all really enjoyed this although the wait the first time we went we had to queue for 20 mins so best to get there 20 mins early if you don’t want to wait long for your food but food was really good and kids said it tasted as good as McDonald’s so happy days! Snacks: In the lobby of the Jupiter Hotel they put on sandwiches, bread, cold meats, cheese and these amazing wafers. Was nice to have picky bits to munch on throughout the day if you weren’t full up from breakfast and lunch! Dinner: There was a themed night each night which was good, only one I didn’t like was the seafood one so ended up eating from the kids corner but again plenty to choose from and the desserts table was really nice. We went about 6pm each night before it got busy. For those that enjoy a late dinner, they also offer a dinner service at 10pm.

Immerse yourself in the natural beauty at Club MAC Alcudia, where our twin lakes are the centerpiece of the stunning Maristany ecosystem, a thriving wetland zone in the Balearic Islands. With our annual oxygenation efforts, these lakes remain vibrant and are a haven for diverse wildlife, offering a unique natural experience for our guests.

A Haven for Water Adventures

Our lakes beckon the adventurer in you. Although swimming isn’t on the cards, a realm of water escapades awaits, from serene pedalo journeys to adventurous boating. And the best part? Every day, between 10 am and 1 pm, you’re invited to embark on the pedalos, free of charge.

But the experience doesn’t end at the water’s edge. The surroundings of Club MAC feature numerous footpaths and cycle trails, perfect for those wanting to explore on land. For birdwatchers, strategically placed hides offer great spots to observe rare avian species in their natural habitat. Additionally, the visitor’s centre provides enlightening displays and exhibits for a deeper understanding of the region’s ecological and historical significance

The Historical Significance of S’Albufera Wetlands

The S’Albufera Natural Park includes the lakes at the hotel, forming an intricate system of drained land and canalized water. This area has a rich tapestry of history woven into its landscapes. Named after the Arabic word for ‘lagoon’, these wetlands have been influenced by civilizations, from ancient Romans to modern Spaniards

Centuries ago, emperors in Rome feasted on ‘night herons’ from these very wetlands. By the 19th century, a British company attempted to drain the wetlands, leaving behind a network of canals that can still be witnessed today. The 20th century saw the region embrace rice cultivation, and manufacturing using native sedge and reeds flourished.

However, with the looming threat of tourism affecting this delicate ecosystem, 1985 marked the year when S’Albufera was christened a protected nature reserve.

A Haven for Birdwatchers

The proximity of Club MAC to the S’Albufera Natural Park makes it a coveted destination for ornithologists worldwide. Rare avian wonders such as Montagu’s harriers, long-eared owls, stonechats, moustached warblers, and more find their home here. With ospreys diving for their catch and peregrines making the wetlands their year-round abode, birdwatchers are in for a real treat.

In Conclusion

At Club MAC Alcudia, the joy of vacationing merges seamlessly with the natural beauty Club MAC offers. It’s not just a stay but an experience—one that promises memories filled with fun, adventure, and the serene beauty of Mallorca’s wetlands.

Alcudia's market

Alcudia, the picturesque resort town in Majorca, is a complete family holiday destination. While staying at Club MAC, you can easily spend your vacation time sunbathing by one of the pools or enjoying any number of activities and entertainment options right within the resort. But we highly encourage our guests to spend some time exploring the nearby attractions on the island.

While there’s no better way to start your Alcudia adventure than at Club MAC, the charming town offers a plethora of other activities for families seeking a memorable vacation. Here are Club MAC’s recommendations for the ten best things to do in Alcudia:

Explore the Historic Old Town:

Alcudia’s enchanting Old Town is a UNESCO World Heritage Site founded more than 2,000 years ago. It is one of the best-preserved medieval towns in Majorca. Surrounded by 13th-century city walls and impressive gates, the town exudes a nostalgic charm with its narrow and cobbled streets, old Roman houses, and preserved medieval buildings.

Marvel at the 14th-century Sant Jaume Church. Explore the Roman ruins of Pollentia, an archaeological site with well-preserved mosaics. Admire its ancient architecture. Climb the city walls for a stunning view of the surrounding area. Stop by lovely cafes and small shops at the end of your tour.

Relax on Alcudia Beach:

A trip to Alcudia is incomplete without spending time on its stunning beaches. Alcudia Beach, with its soft golden sands and turquoise waters, is a haven for sun-seekers and water sports enthusiasts alike. Stretched across several kilometers, this is Majorca’s longest beach, and it has received the blue flag for cleanliness and safety. Thanks to its shallow depth, it is a child-friendly beach, and offers various amenities for tourists, making it a perfect family spot.

While at the beach, swim and sunbathe under the Mediterranean sun, enjoy a sunset from the perfect spot, build sandcastles with your little ones, or try your hand at thrilling water activities like jet skiing and paddleboarding.

Visit the Hidropark:

For a day of family fun on a hot summer day, visit Hidropark, Majorca’s third-largest water park in Alcudia. It offers fun water rides, slides, pools, and splash zones. This aquatic paradise guarantees non-stop entertainment for everyone.

Kids will love the bouncy castles and playgrounds. Adults can relax in the lush gardens or take a refreshing dip in the pools. There are activities for all ages, including mini-golf, trampolines, small electric cars, and paintballing. You will also find several restaurants and bars.

Embark on a Boat Excursion:

Spend a day at sea to discover the beauty of Alcudia’s coastline. There are a number of boat trips you can take, from sunset trips to diving trips. You can choose between a catamaran, a speedboat, or a sailing boat, or you can catch a ferry to the island of Menorca.

Sail along the shimmering waters, spot the exclusive villas on the Alcanada hillside, stop at any of the picturesque bays for a swim, and look out for frolicking dolphins. You can also opt for a guided tour on a glass-bottomed boat that allows you to view the magnificent ocean floor and marine life.

Conquer Cap Formentor:

You can either take a boat past Cap Formentor, located on the northernmost tip of Majorca, or preferably take the scenic drive up to this secluded part of the island. The winding road offers expansive views of the Mediterranean Sea and the dramatic cliffs below. At the end of the journey, you’ll be rewarded with a breathtaking panorama from the iconic Formentor Lighthouse, and it’s a great viewpoint to watch the sunset from. The Cap Formentor trip is a must-do adventure when in Alcudia.

Explore the S’Albufera Nature Reserve:

Nature enthusiasts and birdwatchers will be delighted by the S’Albufera Nature Reserve, a protected wetland area teeming with diverse flora and fauna. This is the largest wetland in Majorca, and the most important – especially for birdlife. The area is mostly grass and swamp but has well-marked trails.

You can easily visit S’Albufera from Club MAC… don’t forget to bring your binoculars and camera to capture some incredible moments in the wild. If you’re lucky, you can also spot some of the S’Albufera wildlife around the Club MAC lakes.

Dive into the Caves of Drach:

Venture underground and discover the magical world of the Caves of Drach, one of Majorca’s most famous natural wonders. Located in the town of Porto Cristo, some 40 km from Alcudia, these stunning caves are spread across a length of 1,200 metres and a depth of 25 metres below ground level. Take note of the stunning stalactites and stalagmites as you explore the caverns. Concealed within is Lake Martel, Europe’s largest underground lake.

Horseback Riding in the Countryside:

Unleash your inner adventurer and embark on a horseback riding journey through Alcudia’s picturesque countryside. Whether you’re a seasoned rider or a beginner, guided tours are available for riders of all levels. Traverse olive groves, vineyards, and rustic trails, and admire the tranquil beauty of the island’s rural landscapes. Or go riding on one of the sandy beaches in Alcudia, such as the Son Serra de Marina.

Try Watersports at Playa de Muro:

Just a stone’s throw away from Alcudia, Playa de Muro offers a variety of thrilling watersports to get your adrenaline pumping. From windsurfing to kiteboarding, and wing surfing to paddleboarding, the beach’s ideal water and weather wind conditions make it a perfect spot for aquatic adventures.

Located on the north of the island and surrounded by the S’Albufera Nature Reserve, the crystal-clear turquoise waters of Playa de Muro are the ideal setting for an adventurous day out with the family. Lessons and equipment rentals are available for those looking to learn or improve their skills.

Enjoy Club MAC’s Family Activities:

Back at Club MAC, the fun never stops. Engage in an array of family-oriented activities and entertainment offered by the resort. From engaging kids’ clubs and playgrounds to live shows and themed nights, Club MAC ensures that every moment of your vacation is filled with joy and excitement.

With Club MAC as your base for an adventurous family holiday, our list of best things to do in Alcudia will undoubtedly make your holiday experience a memorable one. So, pack your bags and get ready to embark on an unforgettable journey!

A Medieval Design Masterpiece

The town of Alcudia has ancient Roman origins. However, the Alcudia city walls date back to the medieval era. King Jaume II of Aragon ordered their construction in 1298.

The walls were designed to protect an important population center. They had both strategic and defensive significance during a tumultuous era. King Jaume II envisioned a grand defensive structure. It included towers, gates, and bastions, reflecting military strength and artistic finesse.

Construction of the 6-metre-high limestone fortifications took a long time and was completed in 1362 during the reign of Peter III. The walls stretched for nearly 1.5 km, dotted with 26 towers, enveloping the entire city.

The Walls as a Sanctuary

As the medieval era passed, the walls served as more than just a defensive structure; they shaped the landscape, trade, and culture of the town. During the next century, the walls would frequently serve as a sanctuary. People sought refuge within the city walls during the German Peasant Revolt and the Lutheran Revolt, both of which occurred during the 1500s. The Majorcan nobility also sought sanctuary here.

The Holy Roman Emperor Charles V suppressed the rebellion for some time and went on to declare Alcudia the ‘Faithful City’ in 1523. After his abdication, his son Philip II built a second belt of walls around Alcudia. This Renaissance-style star-shaped fortifications with low bastions were later demolished in order to expand the town.

Preservation and Present-day Significance

In 1974, the Alcudia City Walls and the remains of the Roman city of Pollentia (the precursor to the Alcudian settlement) were declared an Artistic Historical Site. Alcudia is today one of the best-preserved walled towns of Majorca. The polygonal city walls remain remarkably intact, offering visitors a glimpse into the checkered past. Although a few of the walls collapsed in the 19th century, the remaining structures have since been declared cultural heritage and are diligently preserved.

As you stroll along the majestic ramparts, the stunning views of the surrounding landscapes, including the Tramuntana Mountains and the shimmering Mediterranean Sea, leave a memorable impression.
