Snorkelling at Club MAC Alcudia

Club MAC Alcudia features a range of swimming pools, two natural lakes and is based near some of Majorca’s most popular beaches. When visiting our resort this summer, you can try exciting water-based activities such as snorkelling, which is perfect for the kids. If this sounds like something you want to try, check out the following five snorkelling tips for beginners!

Find the right mask

Before you take to the water, you need to find a snorkelling mask. If you buy an ill-fitting mask, water might seep in while you’re swimming! As a rule of thumb the mask should stay in place without you having holding it, fitting snugly at the widest area of your head. If water does start flowing in when you’re snorkelling, adjust the straps at the back to fix the problem!

Learn to defog

Sometimes when you’re snorkelling the mask can fog-up, blocking your vision. It’s really important that you learn how to defog your mask, so you can see where you’re going! If you go online you’ll see a range of tricks on how to defog when snorkelling such as applying a mix and baby shampoo and ocean water. Experiment before you go snorkelling so you can find the solution that works best!

Practise breathing

Breathing is one of the biggest challenges of snorkelling. Find a way to breathe steadily through the mask, so you can snorkel without constantly coming up for air. We’d suggest that you practise breathing through your mask before you get into the water, so you can get the hang of it. Make sure that you don’t bite the tube when breathing, or your jaw will get really sore really fast!

Do some research

It’s really important that you do some research before you go snorkelling, so you can yourself safe at all times. Learn the rules of staying safe when swimming so you can glide through the water with the peace of mind needed to enjoy your snorkelling experience. Also find out where the lifeguards are stationed and look up the rules of the area were your swimming, so you always stay safe.

Buddy up

There’s strength in numbers! If you’re new to all this, you might want to think about finding a snorkelling buddy. You can keep each other safe and appreciate everything this fun water sport has to offer together! We should note that if you’re going snorkelling with your kids, you should stick close to them at all times, so you can help them out if they experience any problems!

Enjoy the water

Snorkelling is great family activity. It gives you the chance to bond while discovering a whole new underwater world, making wonderful holiday memories you’re sure to treasure forever. If you and your family are beginners, make sure you know what you’re doing so you enjoy swimming through the water when you visit Club MAC Alcudia this summer!
