Follow Macky and Misha’s holiday adventures before Club MAC opens for summer 2020
The summer is over, and all of our guests have gone home. And while the Club MAC team takes a break before preparing the resort for summer 2020, two of our very good friends are off on their holidays!
Macky and Misha are our beloved Club MAC mascots, and if you’ve ever stayed here you will definitely have met them. They love to entertain the kids (and grown-ups!) throughout the summer seasons. From birthday party visits to their very own wedding day, Macky and Misha are very much part of the Club MAC experience. But have you ever wondered where they go when they’re not at work? Read on…
Before summer 2020, Macky and Misha are travelling the world!
The first stop for our intrepid travellers was our sister resort in Puerto Marina. Hotel MAC Puerto Marina is right in the middle of the Costa del Sol in Benalmadena. The hotel is perfectly located just seconds from the marina with its restaurants, bars and shops.
Easy to get to from Malaga airport, Hotel MAC Puerto Marina is a four-star hotel, which is ideal for family holidays. It’s also great for couples and individuals looking for a peaceful, relaxing holiday. Macky and Misha love the spa with its indoor swimming pool, massage room and sauna.
One of their favourite things about this hotel is its location. Because it’s so close to the marina and the beach, you can take it easy or have an energetic holiday. The choice is yours. Just 90 metres from the beach and 200 metres from the centre of the Benalmadena resort, the hotel has two bars serving a range of international, premium and local drinks.
The rooms have a capacity of up to three people for the most part. There are only four rooms (three family rooms and one junior suite with a bigger terrace complete with sunbeds) that can sleep up to two adults and two children. It’s also worth knowing that children at Puerto Marina are up to 12 years old).
Food is buffet style and rooms can be booked on a half-board or bed and breakfast basis. As well as the indoor pool in the newly refurbished gym area, there is a freshwater outdoor pool with a separate children’s area. There are 272 rooms at the hotel, which are either courtyard rooms or rooms with a terrace and swimming pool view.
From Spain to Mexico – Macky and Misha go long haul!
After their summer season at Club MAC in Alcudia, and a holiday in the Costa del Sol, Macky and Misha were ready to go further afield. They decided to hop on a long haul to Guadalajara in western Mexico. They went to Mexico to celebrate Dia de las Muertos (Day of the Dead), which is one of the most important times of the year.
Today’s Day of the Dead festival is formed from a blend of pre-Hispanic cultures and Christian celebrations. Taking place on All Saints Day (1 November) and the Catholic All Soul’s Day on 2 November, it has become a spectacular event throughout Mexico. The festival is very much a celebration of life, and a time to honour those who have departed this earth, and there is nothing quite like it. Each region has its own traditions, of course, so it’s slightly different depending on where you go in Mexico.
Macky and Misha visit Italy!
Their final holiday destination was Italy. Macky and Misha started their Italian adventure in Rome. They made sure they saw as much as possible, including the majestic Colosseum, the Roman forum, the Spanish steps and the Pantheon. They threw coins into the Trevi Fountain (legend says that if you do this, one day you will return to Rome), and ate as much gelato as they could.
After Rome, Macky and Misha popped to Pisa, with its leaning tower, stunning cathedral and fascinating history. Then they jumped on the train to Lucca. Not as well known as Rome and Florence, Lucca is another ancient Italian city. It is surrounded by imposing and intact city walls, which you can walk along.
They finished their Tuscan tour with a visit to Florence, and all of its artistic treasures. It’s one of the most beautiful cities in the world, the capital city of Tuscany and home to innumerable works of art. After all of that sightseeing Macky and Misha made sure they enjoyed as much pizza as possible before heading home to Alcudia.
