Cycling Holiday Alcudia

We have so much on offer at Club MAC Alcudia that we know it’s easy to simply stay on site, enjoying the swimming pools, food, drink and entertainment. But it’s good to know what else is out there in our beautiful part of the world.

Here are a few ideas to help you make the most of your holiday with us. We want you to enjoy everything there is to see and experience in our gorgeous sun filled part of the Majorca!

Visit Alcudia Market

You can visit this large market, just inside the walls of the old town of Alcudia, on Sundays and Tuesdays. It’s one of the oldest markets on the island, as well as including a range of stalls, which means there’s loads to have a look at. You can spend your time wandering and looking or barter hard for a bargain to take back home with you. There are plenty of places to enjoy a drink and a bite to eat as well, so you can try traditional tapas or the local cheeses, meats and bread. Simply ask at reception for more information about our Market Xperience Tour.

Don’t expect to combine your market visit with traditional shopping if you go on a Sunday though, as most shops are closed in Majorca. It’s also the day that locals tend to head to the beach in the hot months, so if you don’t want to meet the crowds, you could skip the beach on a Sunday and stick with the swimming pools and fun at Club MAC.

Head to a hidden gem of a beach

There are lots of beaches nearby, but if you want to go off the beaten track a bit go to Es Coll Baix Beach. Easily one of the most beautiful beaches in the area, expect to enjoy a sandy cove and crystal clear Med. It can only be reached either by the sea or a steep walk down the rocks though, so if you have little ones with you Aucanada Beach could be easier to get to. Here you can take a saunter out to the lighthouse.

Hit the Hidropark

Alcudia’s very own top class water park is just across the road from Club MAC Alcudia, and we’ve negotiated for our guests to have a free pass into the park – check out more about this opportunity here. The Hidropark is a great place to go if you enjoy the thrills and spills of a typical waterpark, with plenty of slides and wave pools to enjoy. The only problem is you may find you spend the entire day there!

Discover Roman ruins

In the centre of Alcudia, you can find the Roman ruins of Pollentia. Founded by Qintus Caecilius Metellus in 123BC, it used to be the most important city in the whole of the Balearic islands during Roman times. Although some things were discovered in the 17th century, it wasn’t until 1923 that proper excavations were made.

Now there are three areas you can explore – the theatre, the residential area of La Portella and the forum. You can also have a look round the museum near the church which displays a lot of the finds from the site. There is also a museum, the Museu Monografic de Pol-lentia in the centre of Alcudia (by the church) which displays many of the objects found on the site.

Get your adrenaline pumping

There are plenty of watersports and adventures to enjoy in the area. You could try anything from coast trekking to snorkelling and kayaking. Or, if you fancy a bit more of a chilled-out day out in the elements, head to Playa de Muro, part of the main beach in Alcudia. The sand is soft, white and fine and the sea is blue and calm. It’s on the most beautiful and relaxing areas on the island, and you get a great view of Alcudia Bay – where you can watch other people being energetic!

Go shopping in Palma

Saturday is a great day to head to the capital of Majorca if you want to get some proper shopping under your belt. It’s one of the quietest days in the city, as the locals are chilling out, so a great time to have a wander around and fulfil your shopping dreams. You can get the bus, which also includes a sightseeing tour provided by Xperience Excursions from the Club MAC hotel.

And when you’ve had your fill of fun times across the island, Club MAC’s entertainment, food and drink will be waiting for you to enjoy!
