Club MAC Majorca’s Royal Carthusian Monastery

Majorca, home to Club MAC Alcudia, is a sun-drenched paradise. But it does rain occasionally and when the waters start pouring down, what should you do? Club MAC Alcudia looks at what you can do in Majorca when it starts raining.

Alcudia’s weather

We’re lucky enough to be based in the port town Alcudia, where average temperatures climb as high as 26°C in the summer months; perfect for a range of outdoor activities, from swimming in our pools to sunbathing on Alcudia’s pristine golden beaches.

But contrary to popular belief, it does rain in Majorca and sometimes, it really pours. In Alcudia, average rainfall can reach 20mm in August or even 63mm in October. Unless you’re really adventurous, you won’t want to be caught in the downfall but don’t worry there’s still plenty to do.

Enjoy our resort

You could always stay at Club MAC Alcudia and take advantage of your room. In our standard rooms, you’ll find satellite TV with basic channels, while premium rooms and family suites have satellite TVs with premium channels, so you could watch a show. The latter rooms also have high speed Wi-Fi, so when it rains you can go online and catch up with loved ones at home from the comfort of your room.

We also have PCs with internet that you can rent for a small fee in reception, as well as other facilities you can enjoy when it’s raining outside. You could always buy some souvenirs at our on-site store, visit our fabulous restaurants for a bite to eat or even pamper yourself by taking a trip to our relaxation area or hairdressers!

Club Mac Alcudia also provide a range of indoor activities to try when it rains. Fancy watching a movie? You can head to the first floor of the Saturno building, where we host our Hotel Cinema between 1pm and 5pm. You could also take your kids to play music games, including musical chairs, with our entertainment team, or try our art attack experience.

Explore the island

You don’t have to let a little rain stop you from exploring the Island. When it starts pouring, you could possibly head out into nearby Alcudia and do some shopping, or experience the town’s outstanding bars and restaurants. Alcudia also has a range of indoor historical attractions you can visit, like Sant Jaume Church, where you can discover more about Majorca’s rich cultural heritage.

You could also rent a car and go further afield when the skies open up, allowing you to experience some of Majorca’s most beautiful attractions while keeping dry. There are various popular driving routes you could try. You can drive, for example, from the Lluc Monastery to Orient. On this trip, you’ll see religious buildings, traditional villages, Caimari’s famous olive groves and lots more!

The Island’s capital, Palma, boasts a number of fascinating sites. While there, you could swing by the iconic Bellver Castle or Palma Cathedral. If you feel like giving your kids an educational experience, Palma’s Es Baluard museum is a great place to go, allowing your kids to explore works from top Balearic artists!

Fantastic family holiday

In rain or shine, you will always find plenty to do both in Majorca, and at Club MAC Alcudia making it the perfect family holiday getaway.
