Club MAC Ses Paisses

If you’re a history enthusiast you absolutely must make some time to visit Ses Paisses during your stay at Club MAC Alcudia. This impressive ruin will allow you to travel to the heart of Bronze Age Majorca.

Drive to Arta

If you rent a car during your time at Club MAC Alcudia, you can take to the road and explore everything this unique Balearic Island has to offer. If you drive out of Alcudia up to Arta in the very North-East of the Island, you’ll encounter Ses Paisses, a place that must be seen to be believed.

Ses Paisses

The island of Majorca has been inhabited for thousands of years. It was once settled by the Talaiotic culture, who experts believed lived on various parts of Majorca and Menorca until the arrival of the Romans. They left behind at least 274 stone settlements, including Ses Paisses, which is often recognised as one of the most important and best preserved prehistoric sites in the Balearics.

Ses Paisses is a wonderfully preserved example of Bronze Age Masonry. This is why the first thing that will strike you when you reach Ses Paisses is its famous massive entrance portal. It was constructed from three huge slabs of native stone that weigh eight tonnes each.

Yet the inhabitants of this settlement build more than its entrance portal. There are a number of wondrous ruins to explore when you arrive at Ses Paisses including the ‘cyclopean’ walls that surround its perimeter and several expertly preserved interior rooms. It also features an atalia (watchtower), which the Bronze Age dwellers of this relic of history used to defend their village, once upon a time.

Visit the site

Ses Paisses has become a popular Majorcan tourist attraction. The site opens from 10am to 5pm Monday through Friday, and from 10am to 2pm on Saturdays. However, it closes to the public and Sunday and national holidays.

A trip to Ses Paisses is a trip back in time. It allows you to explore the fascinating world of Bronze Age Majorca and make the most of stay at Club MAC Alcudia, so you can walk away from your holiday with memories that’ll last a lifetime.
