Cycling Holiday Alcudia

Alcudia, the port town where Club MAC Alcudia is located, is a perfect holiday destination for cycling enthusiasts. Boasting stunning landscapes, fantastic weather – with average temperatures reaching as high as 26°C in summer, amazing cultural attractions and well-paved roads, you can have a great cycling holiday in Alcudia, seeing the best this region has to offer as you ride on by.

Renting bikes

You can find bike rental services across the Alcudia area. We should note that prices vary, depending on the bike frame you want and the duration of your hire. You may find that some services charge you extra for pedal hire, but if you bring your own, they might be willing to fit them for free. You can rent a bike for a 50€ deposit from Club MAC Alcudia, which you will get back when you return it to us.

Cycling routes

Once you have rented a bike, you can go off and explore the Island at your leisure. If you want somewhere to start, why don’t you try one of Majorca’s popular cycling routes? If you’re looking for something quiet and peaceful, you could opt for the 40km loop Lluc Monastery route. This starts and ends in the quaint town of Llucmajor, which is about an hour away from Alcudia, so you might need to rent a car. On this route, you can tour the stunning orange groves of Majorca as you ride.

But if you want to stay closer to the resort, you can find plenty of good cycling routes near Alcudia. You could try the 30 mile route through the S’Albufera Nature Park, for instance. Here, you’ll be able to take a nice easy ride, along well-paved paths, viewing the fascinating flora and fauna that calls these wetlands home. You may want to watch out for the European Turtle, which is incredibly rare!

Biking competitions

If you really want to push yourself, you could always enter one of Majorca’s cycling competitions. Registration has just opened, for example, for the 2017 Majorca cycling contest, which welcomes cyclists of all abilities and takes place just after our 2017 season starts, on 29th April. With this event, you’ll be able to ride through Alcudia itself, as well as other popular Majorcan tourist towns like nearby Pollenca and Valldemosa.

There are three races you can register for. The main one is the 14-hour Majorca 312, which takes you across 312km of roads, along with a 5050m vertical climb up the Tramutana Mountains. There is also the 10 hour 225km event, with a climb of 3973m and the easiest route, the 167km race, which boasts a climb of 2475m. You can register online and prices are charged on a first come, first served basis. The first 1000 entrants will only pay 60€, the next 4000 will pay 70€ while the final 1000 will pay 75€.
