Ironman and Ironkids Competitions Coming to Alcudia
Book a stay at our outstanding Majorcan resort, Club MAC Alcudia and your family will find a tonne of fun-filled activities to keep you occupied all season-round. If you’re staying this month, you could always try the Ironman and Ironkids competitions, which will be held in Alcudia very soon!
Popular tourist town
We thank our lucky stars for Club MAC Alcudia’s top location. Nestled along the North-Eastern edge of sun-drizzled Majorca, Alcudia is a very popular tourist town. Alcudia features chic boutiques, fascinating historical attractions such as the old town and the Roman Town of Pollentia, stunning, golden sandy beaches and much more, so you’ll always have something to do when visiting us!
You can also take part in a range of sporting and cultural events when visiting Alcudia throughout the tourist season. The fun starts early in this thriving port town, with a number of events in the beginning of the season. The Festival of Colours was a particular highlight in early 2016, as tourists and locals came together to celebrate love with colour-infused water fights, great food and even a carnival!
Alcudia’s events calendar heated up with the arrival of the summer sun. During this part of the year, there were a number of cultural celebrations, such as the Fiesta of Saint Jaime in late July. Named for Alcudia’s patron saint, on this annual, week-long celebration, there were a number of cool activities, from open-air dances and concerts to religious ceremonies which shed light on local life!
The summer may be winding down now, but the fun doesn’t stop in Alcudia. If you’re visiting in September, you will get the chance to check out the Ironman and Ironkids competitions, which are sponsored by Thomas Cook. The Ironkids event, which is open to all under-12s, comes first on Friday 23rd September, with Ironman following the day after.
During the Ironkids competition, your kids will have tonnes of fun, running between 300 metres and 1,200 metres (depending on age), to see who can triumph! When they finish, your child will get water, fruit, an Ironkids t-shirt and a medal, so everyone’s a winner! Ironman is more strenuous, as contestants swim for 1.9 kilometres, cycle for 90 kilometres and complete the day with a 21.1 kilometre run, providing plenty of must-see action for you and your family!
Make great memories
Even when September ends, you can find so much to do. If you visit Club MAC Alcudia in October, as the season comes to a close, you can still take part in all our usual events and activities, as well as attend our famous Halloween Party. Whatever time in the season you choose to fly out to Majorca, you will find everything you need to make great holiday memories at Club MAC Alcudia!
