Brits Will Flock to Spain in 2016

Spanish holiday resorts like Club MAC Alcudia have always been popular with UK tourists. New research suggests Brits will keep flocking to the golden sands, azure waters and sunny skies of Spain this year.

News website The Olive Press recently reported that the Association of British Travel Agents (ABTA), a leading UK tourism industry body, has released new research. ABTA’s Travel Trends 2016 report suggests that more Brits will fly out to Spain to enjoy the holiday of their lives in summer 2016.

ABTA argued that a number of things, such as an improving British economy and a strong pound, will give UK tourists more spending power. They’ll choose to head to Spain; the  report says: “Western Mediterranean destinations, in particular Spain, are set for a bumper year with bookings for summer 2016 tracking ahead of previous years as 2015 comes to a close.”

We’re lucky enough to be based in the Majorcan port town of Alcudia, so travellers can enjoy great Spanish weather, beautiful beaches and historic monuments when they stay with us. We proved really popular with UK tourists last year. Figures tell us that we received more tourists from Britain than any other country in 2015. Over four fifths (84%) of guests came to us from the UK. In contrast, 7% of Club MAC Alcudia guests last year came to us from Ireland, while 1.5% were Spanish.

We also received a lot of British visitors to our online communication channels – where you can find out more about what’s going on at Club MAC Alcudia, in 2015 as well. More than 73% of our official website’s sessions originated from the UK last year with Spain following, at 12.55% of sessions. Meanwhile, almost 30,000 likes on the Club MAC Alcudia Facebook page came from the UK.
